McShane’s still on fire with this scorching new read. Lamprophyre rescues a stolen dragon egg with the aid of the prince she snatched, thinking Prince Rokshan was just an average human woman. (Really, how can you tell these human genders apart?) Now, the queen of the dragons – dear old mom – has appointed her as the ambassadors to the humans.Lamprophyre is to find out who ordered the egg to be stolen so the dragons can have their justice. That should be easy enough, once she’s in a human city. Rokshan is reasonable and nice enough, but other humans are quite the mix. Some want to use her for a jungle gym (just the right size for kids to climb), some want to learn from her, some want to kill her, and some just want her to be gone. Between the humans who love, hate, or fear her, surely she can discover the egg thief and his boss.But it’s going to take every bit of ingenuity that Rokshan and Lamprophyre have between them, plus the odd friend or family member, to solve this mystery. Hopefully, they’ll avoid getting killed while they’re at it.Another fun read from Melissa McShane. By the end of the book, things were really heating up, and I can’t wait for the next in the series. McShane has a flare for original touches that make her worlds engrossing and believable. Just way too much fun, plus some insights into human (and dragon) interactions that we can all related to.
